Advocacy Avengers

Bullseye painted on wall with arrows at the center, word Advocacy painted next to it

The Advocacy Avengers is the DS ACT teen and young adult group for individuals who have Down syndrome.

At each meeting, our program coordinators lead individuals with Down syndrome age 16 and older through discussions, games and general good times.

In a word, DS ACT Advocacy Avengers is a BLAST!

Meetings start in February and over the course of the year, participants socialize, and they practice and refine the “soft” skills that are so important for independence and employment. Parents and guardians have the option to join DS ACT for dinner at a nearby restaurant during the meeting or simply use the time for a bit of personal respite.

Flexibility and Connection is the name of the Avengers’ game. In 2020 the Avengers moved online to meet the challenge of the pandemic, with meetings happening at least twice a month.

Who knew you could have so much fun in front of a computer?

Exercise, crafts, dancing, cooking and more!

We’re back to our usual schedule now though — meetings one month, a social get-together the next (think mini-golf, bowling, Yard Goats games!).

Would you like to be part of the fun?

Email us at avengers@mydsact.org for information about participating, if you are a teen or adult who has Down syndrome OR if you would like to join us as a volunteer!
